How We Got Here

My name is Jake Podesta and I have Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). As a result of my disease I needed a Kidney Transplant to save my life.  In March of 2021 the journey to find a Living Donor match started with the necessity of reaching out to everyone and anyone – including strangers on the internet. With my wife Ashley – who matches with me in heart and mind but not the kidneys – we launched this website and #Jakeneedsakidney. Through our outreach we found our forever hero, and my Living Donor Match, Mary Beth (MB). On September 23, 2021 she literally saved my life when “Bruster” her spare right kidney found it’s new home with me.
